6/25-7/1/07 - Glenwood Summer Camp

Glenwood Summer Camp was a huge success this year. We started the week off learning about the history of hip hop and trying our hand at it. We had a DJ, MC, Bboy, & Graffiti Artist come and teach us their trade. We visited NC A&T, had a "Game of Life" tournament, and had fun on our make-shift Slip 'N Slide. Finally, we went to Atlanta and hit all of the major attractions in the city -- the King Center, the Georgia Aquarium, the Coca Cola Factory, CNN, and of course, the pool!

6/22/07 - The GUPpies arrive
GUPY 2007
On Friday, June 22nd, Glenwood welcomed it's fourth group of "Guppies." The Greensboro Urban Project Y'all (GUPY) is in its fourth year, and brought in 10 college students from around the tri-state area to learn about urban injustice, racial reconciliation, and God's heart for the poor. We look forward to having them here!

5/17-19/07 - Members of Glenwood attend nation-wide training
Two of our neighborhood members, Dayna & Katherine, attended the Urban Youth Workers' Institute 2007 National Conference in Los Angeles, CA. They are looking forward to sharing all they learned with the rest of the team and leading new activities with the kids. You can view information about the conference here.

3/31/07 - UNCG Small Group Hosts Easter Festival
Easter! Easter! Easter!
The InterVarsity Women's Small Groups returned to Glenwood to host an Easter Festival for the younger children in Glenwood. Between 25 and 30 kids showed up to dye eggs, get their faces painted, participate in a coloring contest, and much more.

3/10/07 - Glenwood Community Garden Launched
The Glenwood Community Garden is here!! Community members and InterVarsity students came together to clear the land and build the plots Saturday morning. The News & Record also covered the event -- you can read about it here.

3/4-17/07 - InterVarsity Students Come to Glenwood
InterVarsity students from UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Chapel Hill, Radford University, and Virginia Tech came to Glenwood during their Spring Break learn about God's heart for the inner-city. Students spent time touring Greensboro and learning about it's rich history in civil rights, as well as completing service projects at various Greensboro human-service organizations.

12/9/06 - Glenwood Middle Schoolers Attend Grace's Community Dinner
Middle School Banquet
Several middle schoolers from Glenwood attended the Grace Community Church Middle School Christmas Banquet. Several of the kids performed a step for the other attendees. All enjoyed pizza, skits, a speaker, and a dance contest.

11/18/06 - UNCG Small Group Hosts Thanksgiving

One of the InterVarsity Women's Small Groups offered to host a Thanksgiving dinner for the kids in Glenwood. The kids had a great time eating and hanging out. We look forward to partnering with the small group again in the near future!
