Glenwood After-School Tutoring Program

The Glenwood After-School Tutoring Program was started by Marshall and Diane Benbow several years ago when they moved into Glenwood. Originally, between 6-8 students met in the Benbow's home once a week to be tutored by UNCG students. The program now meets two afternoons a week at Grace Community Church. There is an average of 40-50 students in attendance each day, with approximately 25 tutors each day. Students spend one hour working on homework and/or reading, and one hour outside on the playground. They also receive an afternoon snack.

Summer 2007 Update:
Tutoring has ended for the semester.  As you begin to set your Fall schedule, please consider taking 2 hours on Monday or Tuesday to tutor a child in our program.  Tutoring will resume in August, with the exact date TBA.

**Our hope is to have a 1:1 ratio of tutors to students. Are you interested in tutoring, or providing childcare so others can tutor? You can choose either Monday, Tuesday, or both, however, we ask that you are consistent with which day of the week you attend. Please send us an email if you'd like more information.
